In September, the S.I.F.EL. SpA railway rolling stock yard will welcome the multi-purpose SVI self-propelled ladder model APV 520 GP, a one-of-a-kind unit and the only example produced for use on Italy’s Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane.

The APV520 self-propelled ladder will take the role of “top player” within S.I.F.EL.’s already extensive fleet; initially, it will be employed in the Turin division for extreme work in the field of Electric Traction.

Some of the features that set it apart:

  • Stage V engine, 600 hp
  • 7-speed automatic transmission for each direction of travel
  • Dual cab for driving facing forward in both directions
  • Rotating secondary cab with the crane integrated inside
  • Prepared for multi-operator (multiple) driving
  • Fassi F 235RA 2.25 crane with radio control (lifting capacity 3 tons at 6 m!)
  • Bucket/work platform for high-altitude work for two people with gravity leveling
  • Space-type work platform for four people, working height 10 m and up to 7 m from the track
  • Mat guide device for conduits/cables, working height 8.5 m
  • Contact line inspection pantograph (height and pantograph adjustment) visible from the small terrace and with a PC recorder in the driving cab
