(FERPRESS) – Milano, July the 30th – Just six months from the contract signing and 15 days before the work schedule, five temporary tracks were activated with an overall development of about 5 km on the Bicocca - Catenanuova section of the Palermo - Catania railway line, built by Salini Impregilo together to ASTALDI, SIFEL. and CLF, which represent the first step in the progress of the project necessary to allow the start of the subsequent construction phases for the new odd track of the Bicocca-Catenanuova doubling, alongside the existing simple track which will be renewed as well.
Bicocca-Catenanuova railway line project, worth 192 million euros and assigned by RFI (the Italian Railway Network), includes the doubling of a 38 km railway section. The first benefits will be tangible in 2020, with the activation of a first speeded-up track, with the overall completion of the works relating to the contract scheduled in 2022. By the end of 2025, instead, the entire line will be completed; it will be possible to move from Catania to Palermo in less than two hours.
